Laboratory work has been a key to understanding how well the body is functioning since the late 1800s. Today physicians are able to do far greater testing and investigation. Knowing this, we still see 40-55% of patients being misdiagnosed, often because the physician failed to request basic lab work.
Our organocentric nature requires us to seek out more information to either confirm or dismiss our diagnostic hypothesis. Lab work give an appreciative look into the biochemistry of the living body, how it is functioning, how it is being malnourished, and whether it is in homeodynamics or allostasis.
